Sarah Pavan: Recipient of the 2006 Athlete of the Year Award
Sarah, at age 16, became the youngest player ever to make the Canadian National Senior Women’s Team. As the first Canadian to play varsity volleyball for Nebraska University, she was named 2004 National Freshman and was a 1st team All-American, and was the 2005 Big 12 Player of the Year.
The event featured NHL star Paul Coffey who served as Honorary Chairman and was a perfect role model to speak to the nominees as they strive to be the best in their fields. Paul's accomplishments on the ice include: 4 Stanley Cup wins, 3 Norris Trophy awards, 11th Leading Scorer in NHL history, and the single-season record in scoring by defencemen with 48 goals in 1986!
