Welcome remarks from Gord Dearborn (KSA President)

Thank-you all for joining us tonight to recognize and honour some of the key volunteers in our local sporting community.  It is our pleasure to acknowledge your efforts, contributions and accomplishments.  With tonight’s awards, KSA will have honoured over 600 volunteers in the 23-year history of this program, but that’s not all we do.

Our mandate is to aid you – our local minor sports groups – and we’ve been doing it now for over 60 years.  We provide financial assistance for capital projects; travel and tournaments expenses… see the pamphlet on the tables or check out our website.  We’ve given out – that is invested – over a million dollars in the last 8 years alone in minor sports groups to benefit local youth !  And tonight we’re adding to that total with two more cheque presentations. (i) KSA Director Rick Weinstein presented $1,500 to Anne Boehm of Children’s Wish (ii) KSA Vice-President Bill Pegg presented $2,500 to KMHA's Sponsored Kids Program, aka Donna's Kids . Thanks, and thanks to all those who make this possible through the purchase of 50/50 tickets at the Ranger games and bingo play at the KW Gaming Centre.

Thanks to our hosting committee for putting this all together and, again, thank-you for participating.  Enjoy your dinner! Enjoy the celebration with the presentations after we all eat!

All volunteer award recipients and their presenters were dinner guests of KSA for this event. In addition to being publicly acknowledged for their volunteer efforts, all recipients also received a commemorative plaque from KSA. It was truly a great evening.  Hope you'll join us next year - or maybe even help out!
